Sakura's
Equipment NotesSo far, I believe it escapes nobody's knowledge that Sakura is a drummer. We could both rant for hours about how hunky and hot he is, but this is not the right place or time for wanking so, let's focus on the fact that he's a drummer, and an awesome one at that too.
I will write here a brief summary of the equipment he uses nowadays and some of the equipment he used to perform with years ago.
I have also included scans of his signature drumsticks. I hope you like the pictures. If you happen to have a spare set and you want to make someone happy, please send it to me! (for free, of course. I am poor.)
Before I start going on and on about this whole instrument and its expensive
parts, I must warn you that I am not a drummer, so I might incur in some
involuntary mistakes. I apologize beforehand to all those of you who will slash
your wrists over it and call disgrace upon me for that insulting and calling
me names and tsk-tsking and rolling your eyes when you find those mistakes even
if you have never done anything like sharing your supposedly vast knowledge
with the rest of us, un-enlightened ones.
I also apologize to those who might be honestly confused by my mistakes, and
I encourage good-hearted readers to point out any errors I could have made so
that I can correct them, and people will stop slashing their wrists, and etc.
upon me. Thanks!
On
a second note, I would like to let you know that collecting this information,
contrasting it with my shashin-shuu (photobooks) and magazines to check how
true it is, translating notes and articles from the manufacturers, scanning
images, scouting for online manuals, references, and catalogues; wording up
this sort-of-article, and having a drummer friend check (he didn't check much
anyway) for possible huge mistake, etc, has taken me a rather long time, and
a rather big amount of effort.
I am aware that information about Sakura in English (or in any other western language) is scarce. (Well, information about him in Japanese isn't exactly abounding either... but there is more.) So, probably, you won't find many (if any) English-language sites containing similar articles to this one.
I have made this effort to write and explain all this because, as I said when I typed the site introduction, I would like to help fans know more about Sakura. However, this "help-to-know" does not, under any circumstance, mean that the information here is free for the taking, the re-translating and the subsequent posting at BBS's nor ML's nor journals, nor websites in no matter what language if you don't give me credit for it by simply saying I wrote this article and/or if you don't provide a link to Sakurazawa no Honki.
It's sad... but people seem to believe they needn't give credit to those of us who go through pains in order to share something with others. I have (regretfully) come across many sites that are exact replicas of rather well-known ones like Reincarnation or 4th Avenue Cafe... only in a different language. I have also come across posts in non-English non-Japanese mailing lists containing re-translations of somebody else's translation where the original translator is never mentioned. I find this to be regrettable.
It's kinda funny, you see... I speak 5 languages. I am an odd person, yeah... I know it. But I can't forget those languages now only to look less weird. So, I suppose I'll keep browsing l'arc en ciel, zigzo and Sakura sites in many languages only because I can and only because I enjoy it... however... should I find any part of this article reproduced or translated anywhere, without my consent, without my name or without a link to Sakurazawa no Honki; I swear I'll hunt you, I'll get you, I'll humilate you like you've never been humiliated before...
Sharing is good, but stealing isn't. If we all learn to give credit to those who deserve it, maybe those who deserve it will be encouraged to work more and give us all more. We will all gain.
I am not saying that this article can't be reproduced or cited, should you want to do so. I am only saying that, if you are going to reproduce it, quote it, cite it, re-translate it, post it or whatever, please, state somewhere in there that the article was developed by me and place a link to this site.
Thanks. I know this sounds dorky, but I hate it when I see theft... in any form.
Michelle
Now proceed...
